Louis Delhaize banner Cora is exploring using small independent traders to open new collection points for its drive format, both in urban and rural locations. Retailers of every kind, from bakers to record stores, are under consideration as Cora looks to expand upon the pedestrian drive concept it pioneered in Metz in 2016. At its Verdun store, Cora now offers pickup at two rural tabacs 20-30km from the parent store and in areas not served by the delivery programme of the hypermarket.
Four Cora hypermarkets now offer the option of collecting purchases from a total of eight partner merchants. A service fee of EUR4.99 is levied, half the standard charge for home delivery. The partner locations receive twice daily deliveries from the drive where orders are prepared and have facilities to store fresh or frozen products. (www.kantarretailiq.com)
