International retailers continued their expansion at national level in October. Thus, 25 stores were opened, with a unit less than September and four units less than the same period last year.
The most stores were opened by Profi, who added 19 commercial units to the nationwide chain at 647 locations. Of the new opened stores, seven are in the Loco format, seven under the City banner and five under the Standard format.
On the second place in the ranking are the Germans from Penny Market, who marked three new openings - Iasi, Agigea and Satu Mare - thus, reaching a total of 212 stores.
Carrefour also continued to invest in developing the chain of stores, inaugurating a supermarket in Timisoara in the Market format. At the same time, the retailer opened the seventh Supeco store in Romania, in Focsani. With these openings, the French have 305 stores locally - 32 Carrefour hypermarkets, 219 supermarkets (204 Market stores and 16 Express Orange), 43 Express proximity stores, 10 proximity Contact stores.
Mega Image added to its chain the third supermarket located in Cluj-Napoca. In addition, the retailer opened three stores in the Shop & Go format and one under the Mega Image banner. Thus, the retailer owns 567 stores in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Constanta, Ploiesti, Brasov, Targoviste and other cities in the country under the Mega Image, Shop & Go and Gusturi Romanesti (Romanian Tastes) banners.
